Program description
Wound care is one of the fastest growing areas in health care today. Attaining comprehensive wound management skills requires continuing education that incorporates solid wound care evidence and principles, best-practice proficiency and interprofessional collaboration.
This online program for health care professionals combines the most current evidence and trends in wound care. It consists of two levels of training:
- Level I is a six-week online course. This course provides you with the essential tools and strategies to confidently practice evidence-based wound care as part of an interprofessional team. The main concepts include: assessment and care planning for acute, chronic, and surgical wounds; wound care product and dressing selection; wound healing and prevention; infection; advocacy and evidence-based practice; and patient-professional collaboration and education. Students must achieve a course score of 75% or higher to receive a micro-certificate for Level I and register for Level II.
- Level II is an eight-week online course focusing on advanced wound care and the impact of complex patient factors on care planning. The asynchronous portion of the course is followed by a mandatory half-day synchronous online workshop. Students must attend the workshop and achieve an overall grade of 75% or higher to receive a micro-certificate for Level II.
This online program provides a facilitated, flexible and interactive learning environment. You'll apply theory to case studies to develop broad clinical expertise in wound care.
