Equity, diversity and inclusion

The knowledge that all people deserve respect, dignity and fairness is at the heart of everything we do at Continuing Studies at UVic. We are committed to upholding the values of equity, diversity, inclusion (EDI) and human rights in our living, learning and work environments.

We connect across academic and community boundaries to examine ethics, politics, culture, and historical and current wrongs. We identify how to stop unjust practices, prevent recurrences, redress and heal. We recognize that we must continue this work until inequity is eliminated on our campus and around the world.

The Equity Action Plan (EAP) is UVic's strategic direction to advance EDI and to create the conditions in which everyone feels a sense of belonging: as connected and respected parts of the university community.

Our programs

The Diploma in Intercultural Studies and Practice (ISP) prepares students to play a productive and socially responsible role in an increasingly multicultural and diverse world. The program aims to develop social responsibility and a clearer understanding and awareness of the complex issues at play in a multicultural society.

The aim of the Social Justice Studies (SJS) diploma program is to provide students with a thorough understanding of the range of ways in which scholars, researchers and students address and engage with issues surrounding social inequities and injustices in the contemporary world.

The Micro-certificate in Equity, Diversity and Inclusion empowers employers and employees to drive positive change by fostering equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplaces. Participants will learn about intercultural communication, systemic barriers and talent acquisition to transform work environments and promote collaboration.
