SUMMER 2021 TERM:
SUMMER 2021 TERM:
If you are interested in finding a 390 project, please consider the following:
The District of Saanich in partnership with the Rithet’s Bog Conservation Society are looking for a student to build on previous RNS projects in the bog. Potential activities range from habitat restoration for red-listed species, to designing experimental invasive species control treatments, to mapping the impacts of potential management of altered hydrology in the wetland.
Biodiversity Galiano has come together with the Galiano Conservancy, Pollinator Partnership Canada, and Saanich Native Plants to plan a coastal bluff restoration at a sensitive and valuable site on Galiano Island. They are looking for a student to help design and implement the first push for species reintroductions, targeting enhanced native plant diversity and pollinator provision services. The student will be co-mentored between Biodiversity Galiano and Saanich Native Plants.
Recently leased long-term to the Sandown Centre for Regenerative Agriculture, the Sandown property is a retired racetrack in North Saanich. The property has had heavy changes in soil and plant communities, but the Sandown Centre is planning on transitioning to community-based agriculture and restored native ecosystems over the next decade. They are looking for a student to tackle activities around soil mapping and remediation work, wetland restoration, and/or hydrology management.
Due to ongoing instability regarding health and safety restrictions on campus, we are planning for an online/hybrid offering of courses in the May to August term. Courses have been designed to allow for either fully online delivery or part online with minimal field days. We will alert registered students as soon as possible to any changes to the current schedule or format.
If you think you are nearing completion of your program, or that you will have completed all your courses by April 30, 2021, you can still apply for a June 2021 graduation up until Feb. 15 (with a late fee). Please get in touch with the program coordinator to ensure your RNS program is complete.
If you are a concurrent UVic undergraduate student, you must consult with Academic Advising before you can graduate. If you are an RNS Diploma student, you’ll need to apply here and contact the program coordinator. If you are an RNS Certificate or an ER PSC student, you’ll need to contact the program coordinator for instructions on how to proceed.
Wondering what to put behind your name once you graduate? Here are the post nominal letters according to program:
