The Impact of the Drug Toxicity Crisis in BC - Complex Challenges and Potential Solutions
COURSE
Course description
Over 14,000 people have died due to overdose since the BC government declared the drug toxicity crisis a public health emergency in 2016. There have been attempts to manage this population-level crisis with individual-level drug treatment and harm reduction services, yet the results indicate an overall escalation in drug-related harms and deaths. This session will examine the root causes of the drug toxicity crisis, the challenges in addressing it, the impact on families and communities, and the potential solutions that could be implemented from a systems-level approach.
