Course description
This course is designed to help you write clearly and effectively for different audiences and situations – whether it’s for the public or employees or during a media event or crisis. You will be able to write using simple language, tell engaging stories, and communicate in a way that influences and connects with people. You will explore modern writing tools to keep things clear and easy to understand, and work with others to create strong, team-based communication.
Learning objectives
On successful completion of the course, you will be able to:
- apply plain language and web-based principles to writing for internal and external audiences
- write accurate, well-supported material under pressure – including for media and in a crisis
- use persuasive writing techniques to change the audience’s attitudes, ideas and behaviours
- incorporate the art of storytelling into human-centric writing like profiles, editorials and speeches
- use modern writing tools to support clear, concise and accessible communications
- work in a team environment to reinforce the collaborative nature of PR writing
