Creating a Visual Workbook

Course description

Create a personalized piece of art while gaining a deeper understanding of your sources of inspiration. Learn to use collage, printmaking, image transfer, acrylic mediums, paints and/or stencils to build your workbook and to express your artistic voice. Artist trading cards and acrylic skin transfer will also be examined.

Classes will be held in a fun and relaxed environment, and no experience is needed to participate.

Printmaking supplies, paints and specialty papers will be included in the cost of the course and you are welcome to bring special "source material" from home to include in your workbook.

Participants do need to supply a used, printed, hardbound book (9x12 inches or larger) from a thrift store or garage sale. Look for heavy paper and a solid-sewn binding. We will be upcycling these into your workbooks. Please DO NOT buy a brand new journal as this works against the main methodology of the class.

Weekly demonstrations and workbook prompts help motivate participants to maintain this as an ongoing art practice.
