Dr. Carolyn Butler Palmer is the Cultural Resource Management Academic Program Advisor and works closely with the program and the Department of Art History and Visual Studies at the University of Victoria.
A faculty-appointed representative, Carolyn provides academic advice about program goals and ensures that academic standards for our programs are consistent with Faculty and Department expectations. She additionally serves as the instructor of record for Directed and Special Studies at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. In her role as faculty within the Department of Art History and Visual Studies, she occupies the Williams Legacy Chair which encompasses community-based research, collections research, and research about the arts of the Pacific Northwest region.
She studied at Carleton University, the University of British Columbia, the University of Utah, and the University of Pittsburgh, where she completed her PhD. Dr. Butler Palmer has taught at the University of Pittsburgh, Allegheny College, and Edinboro University. She additionally serves on the board of the Universities Art Association of Canada/L’Association d’art des universités du Canada (UAAC/AAUC).
