Mandarin: Beginner

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

• Distinguish and reproduce the four tones of the language with greater ease;
• Use Pinyin (an invaluable Mandarin pronunciation guide, which uses the English alphabet) more effectively;
• Understand and use the new vocabulary and basic grammar that will be taught;
• Ask and answer simple questions;
• Recognize and reproduce the simplest of Chinese strokes;
• Form basic sentences;
• Be more familiar with Chinese culture, by means of Chinese social media, songs, videos, etc.

We encourage students to participate in our language courses more than one time in order to truly learn the material taught over 10 lessons. It also gives you additional exposure to varying activities within each topic.

World Language courses are offered three times per year:

• September (registration opens in June)
• January (registration opens in November)
• April (registration opens in November)
