Course description
We invite you to learn about the historical and ongoing significance of Cottonwood swamp forests within Coast Salish territories, the disruption of traditional stewardship practices, and the mismanagement of these important wetland landscapes.
You will uncover the histories of drainage that have altered and degraded these wetlands and the importance of preserving the remaining wetland woodlands.
This course will involve hands-on learning in a rare example of this forest type and in-class lectures to expand knowledge of these ecosystems and the need for continued conservation.
