Course description
Across cultures and religions, food is far more than sustenance, it is sacred.
The rich intersections of food, ritual, and belief, invites learners to reflect on the role of food in shaping both individual and collective identity.
Through case studies, storytelling, and discussion, we’ll explore how food traditions embody symbolic meaning, reinforce spiritual values, and bring people together. Learners will be encouraged to reflect on their own food traditions, whether spiritual, familial, or cultural and how these shape a sense of belonging, ritual, or personal meaning. In this course, you will explore the spiritual significance of meals, rituals and taboos, examining how food connects us to belief systems, community and meaning.
This course welcomes participants of all faiths and backgrounds, and encourages a respectful, inclusive environment for sharing and learning.
