Around the World in Twenty-One Objects
Part of:
UVic on the Peninsula
Course description
This is a seven-week journey through global cultures, histories and belief systems explored through art. Each week focuses on a different region, where you will encounter three carefully selected objects that reveal stories of identity, spirituality, power and everyday life. Through guided discussion, visual analysis and reflective activities, you will develop tools to “read” objects as cultural texts while gaining a deeper appreciation for the diversity of artistic expression across the world. No prior art history experience is required—only curiosity and a willingness to see the world through objects.
