Course description
In this module, learners are introduced to gender-based and LGBTQIA2S+ issues related to homelessness. Leaners are also introduced to best practices for supporting individuals experiencing gender-based violence and individuals engaged in sex work. Learners are introduced to signs of sex-trafficking. The purpose of this module is to provide employees and volunteers in the homelessness serving sector an introductory understanding of gender-based and LGBTQIA2S+ issues in homelessness and to develop proficiency in providing trauma-informed and culturally safe approaches to supporting individuals.
Learning objectives
After successfully completing this module, you will be able to:
- Identify and explain gender-based issues related to homelessness
- Identify and explain LGBTQIA2S+ issues related to homelessness
- Identify and apply best practices for supporting individuals experiencing gender-based violence*
- Identify and apply best practices for supporting individuals who engage in sex work*
- Define and explain signs of sex-trafficking
