Course description
An introduction to the concept of knowledge cultures, the ways in which knowledge is created, validated, shared and acted upon in different settings. We will look at the differences found in the knowledge cultures of academia compared with diverse community contexts. This course is based on the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada UNESCO Chair research project on Bridging Knowledge Cultures. The course is based on the Lepore, Hall and Tandon book on Bridging Knowledge Cultures.

- Share understandings about the concept of knowledge cultures
- Distinguish between major academic knowledge cultures and diverse community knowledge cultures
- Reflect on ways to bridge knowledge cultures within your own work
Certificate of Completion
This course can be taken either as a stand-alone learning opportunity or combined to receive a Knowledge Democracy in Higher Education Certificate of Completion. Each individual course in the series costs $150. However, learners committed to completing all five courses can take advantage of our discounted rate, which is applied to the final course in the series (KDHE150). Instead of paying $750 for all five modules, learners will pay $675.
