The Neuroscience of Optimal Mental Health

COURSE

Course description

Mental health is a concept that is frequently discussed but do we even know what it means? Insights from neuroscience research provide us with a basis for understanding what a healthy brain is and the factors that affect it. In this course, we will first review the basics of brain function, what healthy brain function entails and how this leads to "mental health". Secondly, we will review factors that can have a negative impact on our brain and thus our mental health. We will conclude by reviewing neuroscientifically informed approaches to achieving optimal mental health and well-being.
