Course description
In this course we will examine the intersectional experiences of women and 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals. We will start by exploring the spectrums of gender and sexuality and then we will examine homelessness as it relates to the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. We will also look at the unique experiences of women related to homelessness. Included in this, we will examine the crisis of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG).
Learning objectives
- Describe the spectrums of gender and sexuality and identify inclusive terms related to the 2SLGBTQIA+ community
- Describe the unique needs and challenges of 2SLGBQIA+ individuals who experience homelessness
- Identify strategies for providing culturally safe, trauma-informed, inclusive support
- Describe the unique needs and challenges faced by women experiencing homelessness
