Course description
This course provides an introduction to understanding the determinants and distribution of disease and accidents in human populations that may be attributed to the environment and the workplace. The methods used include data collection, analysis and report preparation, which enable preventive measures to be developed.
Learning objectives
- Understand the purpose and importance of epidemiology (general, environmental, and occupational) in discovering causes, measuring risks and determining priorities for intervention and evaluation.
- Describe the main types of study designs used in epidemiology.
- Critically review epidemiologic literature.

Admission to the certificate program in Environmental and Occupational Health.
