Customized International Education Programs are designed to suit the interests and needs of educators from diverse teaching backgrounds around the world. These programs provide the opportunity for international educators to grow professionally by learning a wide range of education-related topics from a Canadian perspective.

Program description

International Education works in collaboration with the Faculty of Education at the University of Victoria to provide educational opportunities for pre-service and in-service professionals. This program covers various fields of interest, ranging from early childhood education to the post-secondary level. International Education also works in cooperation with the English Language Centre to support the delivery of courses designed for international students who require additional language instruction.

We offer short-term professional development programs throughout the year that can be customized to fit your schedule as an international educator. We can offer programs to any size group, however for the best price and classroom experience we recommend a minimum of 10 participants. Classes are interactive and may include discussions, group work, guest lecturers and field trips.

Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL)

TEFL programs offers a stimulating, interactive teaching and learning environment in which international teachers and/or graduate students can build a professional network and develop their ability to communicate and teach more effectively in English in their home country.

English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI)

English as a Medium of Instruction programs are designed for professors and researchers hoping to teach their subject matter in English. These programs offer a stimulating, interactive teaching and learning environment in which education professionals will receive teacher training and professional development in various skill areas and pedagogies.

Online Pedagogy and Internationalization

Communicating effectively in a professional environment requires specific skills and the self-confidence to apply them effectively. Accordingly, this course is designed to improve writing and speaking skills by providing practical, repeatable processes and easily applied strategies for achieving success.

Educational Leadership

Through interactive courses, observations, and discussions, participating education professionals and/or administrators will develop leadership skills needed to build supportive and collaborative learning environments and respond to changing global needs in education.

Early Childhood Education (ECE)

Enhance your team’s ability to provide effective instruction to early learners with this introduction to foundational knowledge of ECE in Canada. Programming includes experiential learning opportunities such as visits to early childhood education centres, kindergarten visits and interactive workshops.

Please contact us directly so that we can learn more about your group and make the best recommendations to suit your needs and interests. We usually require a minimum of 10 students to build a customized program. We will be happy to prepare a program proposal for your group, including:
