Welcome to the French immersion Workshop Series 

Session #6: Les cercles litteraires thematiques – la littératie interdisciplinaire

 

Thematic Learning Circles are a useful technique for developing literacy and critical thinking skills in students, while also helping them gain a broader understanding of the world around them. In a literacy circle, students learn to question themes, make comparisons between their civilization and society and those in the book, and to differentiate between the reality of history and historical fiction. In this workshop, you will gain the knowledge, tools and resources you need to implement literacy circles in your classroom, in a way that is appropriate to your students' reading levels and cognitive abilities.


Les cercles d'apprentissage thématique sont une technique utile pour développer les compétences d'alphabétisation et de pensée critique chez les élèves, tout en les aidant à acquérir une compréhension plus large du monde qui les entoure. Dans un cercle d'alphabétisation, les élèves apprennent à remettre en question des thèmes, à faire des comparaisons entre leur civilisation et la société et celles du livre, et à faire la différence entre la réalité de l'histoire et la fiction historique. Dans cet atelier, vous acquerrez les connaissances, les outils et les ressources dont vous avez besoin pour mettre en place des cercles d'alphabétisation dans votre classe, d'une manière adaptée au niveau de lecture et aux capacités cognitives de vos élèves.

Prerequisites

Participants must be in-service French immersion teachers.
