Inquiry and the Power of Professional Learning Networks

Course description
Many teachers across BC are involved in district or provincial level networks that use inquiry as a means of improving practice, and deepening student learning. In this session, Dr. Catherine McGregor will:
- Describe network based learning theory
- Share examples of two teacher learning networks in BC that are using this approach (Network of Inquiry and Innovation and the Aboriginal Enhancement Schools Network)
- Talk about the impacts of these networks on learners and teachers alike and
- Give participants an opportunity to examine some sample inquiry activities completed by teacher teams and consider how they might develop their own professional inquiry.
Learning objectives
Upon completion of the workshop, participants will be able to:
- More deeply understand the links between inquiry and learning for teachers
- Become more familiar with existing professional learning networks in BC and how they can become involved
- Apply their understanding of inquiry to examples from their own practice
