Are you interested in learning Mandarin? Mandarin is spoken by millions of people in China and throughout the world. Although it's commonly considered a challenging language to learn, we have different levels to choose from that will gently introduce you to the language in a fun and effective way.
Which Mandarin level should I take?
These questions will guide you through the prerequisites to help you determine the level that best suits you.
This fun, interactive course is designed ideally for you if you are brand new to the study of Mandarin Chinese. In this basic introduction to the language, you will learn "survival" words and phrases by means of "Pinyin," which will, in turn, enable you to reproduce the Chinese you find in travel guides such as "Lonely Planet."
This fun, interactive course is a follow-up to the Introductory level. In addition to practicing pronunciation, you will learn more vocabulary and basic grammar skills. You will also start to explore the amazing world of Chinese characters and find out they are not as scary as they look!
This course is for those who have already completed Mandarin: Beginner (or the equivalent). Here, you’ll take your basic knowledge of Chinese characters and developed tone recognition and expand your ability to build longer sentences, while continuing to learn about the culture through Chinese songs, poems, movies, and other art forms.
This course is geared to students who have completed Mandarin:Intermediate or are functionally conversant in the language. While conversations are kept simple, they will be enriched with a variety of daily life topics, at once broadening your cultural knowledge while building your communication skills. You will also get to expand your written skills by focusing on constructing paragraphs.
We encourage students to participate in our language courses more than one time in order to truly learn the material taught over 10 lessons. It also gives you additional exposure to varying activities within each topic.
