Notice: IRCC announces changes to Canada's international student program
On January 22, 2024, the Honourable Marc Miller, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, announced several measures intended to protect the integrity of Canada's international student program.
Reminder: 20-hour limit for off-campus work remains in effect.
Currently, international students who are eligible to work off campus are limited to a maximum of 20 hours per week of off-campus work, except during regularly scheduled breaks.
IRCC has announced that in fall 2024 they intend to change the number of hours eligible students may work off campus to 24 hours per week. Please note that this change is not yet in effect. Therefore, eligible students should continue limiting their off-campus work to a maximum of 20 hours per week until further notice.
For more information about off-campus work eligibility for international students, including the number of hours you may work, visit the IRCC website.
