Biography

Misty Stephens is a curriculum developer and instructor in the Wound Management program at Continuing Studies at UVic and has a Master of Clinical Science specializing in wound healing. She is also a nurse specializing in wound, ostomy and continence (NSWOC) at Peace Arch Hospital in British Columbia, where she covers the consultation services for wound, ostomy and continence for the acute care site, residential sites and community outpatient clinic. Misty serves as the wound clinician for the White Rock outpatient wound clinic, and has been a registered nurse for over 15 years, after graduating from the Douglas College Bachelor of Nursing program and starting in surgical services and trauma care.

In addition to her clinical work, Misty serves as chair of both the BC Provincial Skin and Wound Value Analysis team and the Provincial Ostomy Value Analysis team, and she is a member of the BC Provincial Nursing Skin and Wound Committee, Ostomy Committee, and Ostomy and Therapeutic Surface Committees. Misty co-developed the Acute Care Adult Protocol for Continence Management for the Fraser Health Authority and developed two hospital ostomy outpatient clinics in Fraser Health. She received the Fraser Health Hero award in 2016 and the BC Health Services award in 2017.
