Saving Shakespeare’s Digital Dust
Part of:
In Pursuit of Knowledge - Fall
Course description
As an information technology, the book is more robust than a website. While the first folio of Shakespeare’s plays is still available in 230 copies more than 400 years after its 1623 publication, many digital versions of Shakespeare’s work have vanished without even a pixelated trace. What can we learn from book history to prevent a digital dark age from wiping out the collective work of the information age? In this talk, book historian and digital humanist Janelle Jenstad will discuss the problem of preservation in our digital world.
