Responsibilities

Hajime provides leadership in the advancement of the Division's online learning strategy. Working closely with the Dean's Office and Directors, he oversees the effective implementation of learning technologies. He leads the Online Learning Services unit which provides learning design service and support to ensure a high-quality learning experience in the Division's online learning environment.

Background

As a student, instructor and learning designer, Hajime brings unique experience and expertise to the role. In 2009, Hajime came to the University of Victoria as an English Language Centre student from Konan University, a partner university from Japan. After completing his degree in the home institution, he came back to UVic as a graduate student. He held an array of jobs on campus before joining Technology Integrated Learning (TIL) as a Learning Experience Designer. In the unit, he worked closely with the Division's program areas to design and develop online courses. From 2020 to 2021, Hajime held leadership roles in TIL to provide online learning support for the university working closely with other leaders in the unit. Hajime is also one of the Japanese instructors at the Division's world language program.
