Responsibilities

Dr. Jo-Anne Clarke is responsible for overall leadership and guidance of the Division.  She works collaboratively with internal and external partners to ensure delivery of quality educational opportunities for local, national and international adult learners.  Jo-Anne represents Continuing Studies on a number of Senate Committees and Advisory Councils. 

Background

Jo-Anne began her career working for social justice and equality-seeking organizations as a community educator and senior leader.  Prior to joining UVic in September 2017, Jo-Anne held senior administrative positions at the University of Calgary and the Alberta College of Art + Design in Continuing Education.  She has 15+ years of experience teaching and developing engaging curriculum for face-to-face, blended and online platforms.

Jo-Anne has a Bachelor of Arts and Masters of Continuing Education from the University of Calgary, and a Masters in Organizational Development and PhD in Human and Organizational Systems from Fielding Graduate University.  At Fielding her research interests focused on women entrepreneurs who are leading financially, socially and environmentally sustainable businesses. She introduced a new type of entrepreneur to discourse on business called the integrative entrepreneur.  Jo-Anne continues to publish and present at conferences when she can.
