Course description
In this course we will examine important topics related to providing person-centered support to people who are experiencing homelessness. While each organization will have its own unique policies and procedures for staff and volunteers to follow, we will explore the broad topics like person-centered care, protecting client privacy, crisis management and conflict resolution that are relevant to all employees working in the homelessness serving sector.
Learning objectives
After successfully completing this module, you will be able to:
- Describe a person-centered approach to supporting others
- Describe aspects of legislation that relate to client confidentiality and privacy
- Identify and apply best practices for record-keeping and note-taking while maintaining client privacy and confidentiality
- Describe best practices for crisis management and critical incident debriefing
- Identify and reflect on effective approaches to resolving conflict in the workplace
