IT Security for Business Continuity

Course description

Get the information technology security fundamentals you need to prepare for and maintain business continuity in the event of an emergency. Learn about security topics related to risk assessment, vulnerabilities and threats, tools and technologies, policies, user awareness, incident response and recovery planning. We will also be covering security issues and solutions in the context of modern technologies such as mobile devices, cloud computing and web applications.

Learning objectives

• Classify the IT assets (both physical and data) to be included as part of an organization’s business continuity plan
• Categorize the IT risks, threats, and vulnerabilities facing an organization in relation to their IT assets and business risk tolerance
• Demonstrate the impact and outcomes of security breaches on the operations of an organization (monetary, reputation, fines/non-compliance, personal injury, destruction of property, etc.)
• List security controls (technology, policy, governance, human resources) to mitigate the IT risks facing an organization
• Create IT security business continuity, disaster recovery, and incident response plans
• Identify organizational roles and responsibilities associated with the management and execution of the business continuity and disaster recovery plans in relation to IT security
• Articulate to key decision-makers within the organization the importance and value of securing IT assets as part of a business continuity plan
