Course description
Recent disruptions including wildfires, floods, IT system failures and the Covid-19 pandemic have brought to light how important effective communication is during a crisis. If poorly handled, crisis events can result in loss of business, closure, economic failure and reputational damage. However, managed and communicated properly, crisis events can actually represent an opportunity for organizations to rebuild and strengthen their reputation and ensure future organizational continuity.

- Assess threats to the communication process and the resulting impact on crisis decision making, business function, and public relations for industry or organization
- Formulate risk and crisis communications that comply with relevant policy and governance regulations
- Apply communication planning models
- Identify strategies for effective crisis communication relevant to your industry or organization
- Develop, implement and evaluate effective communication plans that support crisis decision-making and fit the mission, goals and objectives of an organization and that also build confidence and morale during and after a crisis
- Develop plans to effectively communicate both horizontally and vertically in an organization as well as internally and externally
