We are proud to be an affiliated institution with CIM Chartered Managers Canada. Since 1942, CIM Chartered Managers Canada has provided professional development and certification to over 80,000 managers, and grants several well-recognized academic qualifications and professional designations.

The Certified in Management (CIM) designation affirms leadership and management competencies in multiple areas of expertise. Students and alumni of our business administration programs can choose to apply completed courses toward the academic requirements for the CIM designation. The CIM application and approval process is managed directly by CIM Chartered Managers Canada.

In order to apply for this designation, a student or alumnus must already be a CIM member in good standing. In order to qualify for designation approval, students and alumni must meet the coursework requirements as defined by CIM Chartered Manager Canada, provide necessary documentation, adhere to the CIM Code of Ethics, and complete the required aptitude evaluation administered by CIM Chartered Managers Canada. A total of eight courses are required: four mandatory courses plus four courses from CIM’s optional course category. Please see below for CIM’s coursework requirements and their UVic equivalents.
