Course description
Each class will introduce important visual themes in Western art history and then apply these ideas to hands-on drawing exercises.
We will consider underlying structures and line through late medieval art, anatomy and perspective in the renaissance period, shading techniques as applied to Baroque painting, colour theory through Impressionism, and composition and various approaches to abstraction in modernism, as well as some of the ideas currently under discussion in contemporary art.
