This non-credit preparatory course provides a review of the fundamental concepts and problem-solving skills taught prior to Grade 12. Topics include fractions, ratios and proportions; shape, space and geometry; right triangle trigonometry; exponents; lines, polynomials and factoring; functions; co-ordinate systems; graphing functions and solving equations and inequalities.
If you successfully complete this course, you may apply to the UVic Department of Mathematics and Statistics for permission to take Math 120, Math 151 or Math 161. Please email msadmin@uvic.ca for further information.

Using mobile devices in online courses
If you are planning on accessing your online courses using a mobile device such as a tablet or a smartphone, please note that not all required course features will be accessible with these devices. Refund/withdrawal policy
Students will receive a full refund if they withdraw before the first class, and a full refund minus a $15 administrative fee if they withdraw between the first and second class. After the second class, no refund will be issued unless there are special circumstances, which must be discussed with the Program Coordinator.
Credit vs non-credit
Credit refers to degree credit. If you are taking a course or program for credit through UVic Continuing Studies, it means that course or program provides credit towards a degree at UVic or another authorized university. Credit students have to meet certain criteria, such as being accepted to both UVic Continuing Studies and the University of Victoria.
Continuing Studies statement on use of educational technology
This course will require the use of Zoom and may use other education technology such as internet-based applications, cloud services, or social media. In order to complete this course you will be required to either consent to the disclosure of your personal information outside of Canada to enable use of these technologies, or work with the Division of Continuing Studies to explore other privacy protective options (such as using an alias or nickname).
