Fees

Tuition fees

All course registrations must be accompanied by full payment. We accept:

  • cash/debit card (in person only)
  • cheques
  • money orders
  • credit cards: Visa, MasterCard, American Express

Convocation fee

The University of Victoria charges a $40 graduation fee regardless of whether students attend the convocation ceremony. You can obtain an Application to Graduate from your Program Coordinator.

GST

Some—but not all—Continuing Studies courses are subject to Goods and Services Tax (GST). If GST is payable, it will say so in the tuition fee on the course page.

Income tax receipts

After you register for a course, you’ll receive a confirmation receipt. Keep this receipt, as it is your official income tax receipt.

If your UVic tuition fees exceed $100 in one calendar year, they may qualify as a tax credit. To determine whether your tuition fees qualify, consult the Canada Revenue Agency guidelines. More information can be found on our Student and Income Taxes page.

Financial support

Continuing Studies Bursary

Each term the Division of Continuing Studies offers bursaries totalling CAD $1,000 to assist learners in furthering their education. Bursaries will be awarded to learners who can display evidence of a commitment to lifelong learning and who can demonstrate financial need.

You can obtain a bursary application by calling 250-472-4747, or by downloading a PDF application form.

The application deadlines are: 

  • Aug. 31 for September term
  • Jan. 15 for January term

Bursaries cannot be granted before these dates, since a selection committee must consider each application.

The following programs offer additional scholarship and bursary options:

Refugee Support

The Division of Continuing Studies has dedicated $25,000 to support newly-arrived refugees in Greater Victoria wishing to pursue education in the Division’s non-credit credential offerings.

This funding will be available to students who are accepted in to a program and begin their studies before the end of the 2018/19 fiscal year. The funding is limited to one credential per student.
