Banned Ideas: What Extremists Don't Want Us to Learn
COURSE
Course description
Over the last decade, we have seen politicians across North America advocate for the elimination of certain ideas from our schools, libraries, and even our medical clinics.
Books have been banned, curricula edited, and whole topics of discussion excised from school at every level of education.
In some American universities, policies have been implemented that have resulted in hundreds of courses being removed. What are these ideas? Why do some people find them so dangerous? How can sociology help us to make sense of it all?
