Cinematic Century: Film and History in 20th Century Europe
COURSE
Course description
Discover the unique relationship between film, culture and history in Europe over the course of the 20th century. This was a violent period that witnessed two global wars and many decades of political division. Attention will be given to how films may (or may not) reflect this history, and to how films have been used as evidence in historical study. We will consider how movies relate to political and social history, and what they can show us about a period that is specific to film media.
