StrongerBC Future Skills Grant - Continence Care Skills
PRODUCT
Continence care aims to improve continence management for patients and maintain quality of life. This program focuses on learning about assessment and management, patient dignity, incontinence treatment options, and education and resources. Continence care is often a specialization area within the broader field of nursing. However, many healthcare workers require training in continence care to support patients who are elderly, ill, injured or living with disabilities within a variety of facilities such as hospitals, retirement homes, long-term care homes or private residences.
This online micro-certificate is 12 weeks long and addresses the importance of pelvic floor health, nutrition and diet, as well as lifestyle management. The program is intended for professionals such as registered nurses, healthcare assistants, physiotherapists, caregivers and others who care for those managing continence issues. Participants who complete the program will learn to define and recognize the types of incontinence, explore treatment options, understand the underlying medical issues involved, and provide patients with education and resources.
Please view the program page for detailed program information.
