Course description

Studying Alzheimer’s disease is challenging, and scientists are still trying to understand how this disease works. One of the topics focuses on microglia, the resident immune cells of the brain. Even though symptoms show in advanced age, the disease starts many years before. This makes it very important to understand how these changes appear and what role microglia plays in the different stages of disease progression. We’ll explain the pathology of Alzheimer's, the role of microglia, and some of the research models used to better understand this public health challenge.
