Course description

A community is a group interacting through a shared sense of belonging and identity. Communities can be small, like a club or a neighbourhood, or large, even global. They may be defined geographically or by shared interests and beliefs. A community might be a network that provides a sense of security and comfort to the members. Choose an interesting community; investigate its history, activities or organization; and discover how members interact, the benefits to members, and any successes and challenges. Some examples: Abbey of Saint Scholastica, Hutterites, Surfrider, Pitcairn Island, Finca Bellavista, Swifties and Cosa Nostra. Share your findings in a presentation intended to stimulate discussion.
