Once Upon A Time: Indigenous Histories and Stories

Course description

This workshop will expose participants to ways of working with aspects pertaining to the history of Indigenous people through story. The first part of the workshop will focus on identifying and creating a timeline of impactful and relevant events since colonization. The latter part of the workshop will be dedicated to locating and using stories to delve into historical moments that have impacted the life of Indigenous communities, families, and individuals.

Learning objectives

Upon completion of the workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Identify relevant and impactful historical moments since colonization
  • Work with stories to explore history in creative ways
  • Locate Indigenous stories to enhance their teaching repertoire
