Course description

Building off Data Analytics and Coding Fundamentals, participants will develop advanced skills in data provisioning and manipulation and construct scripts to solve problems and apply safeguards to data for privacy and security in a data analytics framework.

Learning objectives

  • Construct complex scripts in R, Python and SQL to solve problems
  • Apply appropriate safeguards for data privacy and security
  • Perform the following basic tasks in R, Python and SQL as appropriate:
    • Import and export data
    • Clean data
    • Compile data
    • Extract data
    • Manipulate data
    • Prepare data for visualization and reporting

Required Equipment (Laptop)

To complete the program, students must have access to a laptop that meets the following minimum requirements.

Laptop specifications (minimum requirements)

  • Processor (CPU): Intel Core i5 (10th gen or newer) / AMD Ryzen 5
  • RAM: 8GB (16GB recommended for better multitasking)
  • Storage: 256GB SSD (512GB preferred for larger file storage)
  • Graphics card (GPU): Integrated graphics (Intel Iris Xe or AMD Radeon)
  • Battery life: At least 6 hours
    • Note: For in-person classes, students must bring a fully charged laptop
  • Operating system: Windows 11 or macOS (Windows is preferred for Power BI)

For Online Classes

  • Webcam: Built-in or external HD webcam (USB recommended)
  • Speakers & microphone: Built-in, USB plug-in, or wireless Bluetooth
