This micro-credential equips learners with the practical knowledge and applied skills needed to integrate sustainability, resilience, and regulatory compliance into construction projects in British Columbia. Developed in consultation with construction sector partners, the program is designed for current and aspiring construction managers, supervisors and professionals working alongside the construction industry.
From green building principles to on-site implementation
Across two, practice-focused courses, learners will develop a strong understanding of the environmental impacts of construction activities, sustainable and resilient material selection, and the application of recognized green building frameworks such as LEED or the Canada Green Buildings Strategy. Building on this foundation, learners gain hands-on experience in sustainability planning and reporting, which includes setting measurable goals, engaging stakeholders, meeting regulatory requirements, and tracking performance across project phases.
Supporting BC’s climate and construction future
This micro-certificate aligns with British Columbia’s climate action and workforce development priorities. It prepares construction professionals with job-ready skills to lead sustainable projects, reduce environmental impacts, and support more resilient infrastructure and communities. The program also supports key initiatives such as British Columbia’s CleanBC Roadmap to 2030 and Vancouver's Greenest City 2020 Action Plan.
