Course description
This course explores the operational, financial, and legal framework of contract execution, including procurement and purchasing planning and processes as well as contract management best practices. Learners will focus on how construction and trades professionals can source materials and services efficiently and effectively, develop risk mitigation strategies, accurately interpret and apply contract terms and schedules, and successfully manage supplier relationships including using dispute resolution and negotiation techniques.
Learning objectives
Upon successful completion of this course, learners will be able to:

Apply procurement planning and sourcing strategies to support construction and trade projects while meeting cost, schedule, quality, and public procurement requirements.
- Prepare compliant procurement and bid documentation by interpreting drawings, specifications, and tender requirements using standard templates and digital bidding tools;
- Evaluate, select, and negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors to establish pricing, schedules, and performance expectations;
- Administer procurement and subcontract agreements through purchase orders, invoicing, change orders, compliance tracking, and project close-out;
- Identify and mitigate procurement and contract risks while communicating effectively with clients, contractors, suppliers, and subcontractors.
