A Journey Through Art: Masterpieces and Meaning
COURSE
Course description
Explore some of the most celebrated works in the history of Western art, from Renaissance sculpture and Dutch Baroque painting to Impressionism and modern art. Through close visual analysis, you will examine how artists use style, symbolism and composition to create meaning, and how these works reflect the cultural, political and religious worlds in which they were created. We’ll consider what makes a work of art a masterpiece, why certain images endure across centuries, and learn to read art with greater confidence, insight and understanding.
