Placemaking for Inclusive Cities
Part of:
Urban and Regional Planning
Course description
This workshop will introduce concepts of placemaking (creative placemaking, sustainable placemaking) and how its role in spatial planning can lead to liveable, resilient and sustainable cities. Placemaking is about creating and enhancing places that are environmentally responsible, socially inclusive, economically viable and culturally meaningful. It is a vital planning tool for people’s safety and a sense of belonging especially with the rise in hate crimes and incidences in public spaces across cities, locally and globally. The workshop will highlight promising practices of placemaking for municipalities to consider and implement in the urban planning and design of cities.
