Course description

The DALF C1 (Diplôme approfondi de langue française) certifies an advanced - independent level level of French proficiency in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

This examination is intended for highly proficient French users in British Columbia, including experienced French Immersion teachers, educators, and professionals, who require formal certification of advanced academic and professional language competence.

At the C1 level, candidates are expected to demonstrate precise, fluent, and well‑structured communication in both spoken and written French. This includes synthesizing complex information, developing nuanced arguments, and participating effectively in demanding professional or academic contexts.

Examination format

Written tests (Listening comprehension, reading comprehension, written production)

Paper‑based
Start time: 9 am sharp

Duration

Written test: 4 hours (9 am–1 pm)
Oral test: Individual oral interviews are typically scheduled in the afternoon, following the written tests. Exact timings are communicated during the week prior to the test session

Location

Exam locations vary by session. Room and location details will be emailed to candidates one week before the examination session.

Refund policy

Requests to withdraw must be received by the posted deadline. Any request to withdraw received before June 12 will be issued a full refund. No refunds will be issued after this date.
