Course description

Greater Victoria has its share of interesting graveyards but there are at least 25 others to explore. Starting with Indigenous burial sites, we will then focus on places used from the time of Fort Victoria in 1843 to the present day when alternative funerary and burial customs became popular. Presented by John Adams, a founding member of the Old Cemeteries Society and author of Historic Guide to Ross Bay Cemetery, you won’t want to miss this journey through rural country churchyards, small family plots, suburban burial parks, and hidden urban cemeteries.
