Course description

This course provides a practical introduction to options, including calls, puts, pricing concepts, common strategies and risk management. Through real-world examples and guided discussions, you will build a foundation for understanding how options work, why investors use them, and how they can be used to express market views, generate income, hedge positions and manage risk. This course is intended for personal enrichment and financial literacy, not professional training or individualized investment advice. You should already have a basic understanding of stocks, bonds, mutual funds/ETFs and diversification.  

Learning objectives

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

- Explain the difference between call options and put options.
- Understand key options terminology, including strike price, expiry, premium, intrinsic value, time value and implied volatility.
