Did you know that as a student in our Summer Language and Culture programs offered from June–August, you have the option of adding 16 hours of business workshops to your studies?
More and more students are looking for specialized, career-focused classes in addition to their short-term English studies at UVic, so we are pleased to share 2 great options for summer 2025.
Add-on options
English for Professional Communication
This full-time program combines general English classes and public speaking workshops.
In addition to 20 hours/week of general English classes, participants will attend 16 hours of specialized classes designed to:
- Improve accuracy, pronunciation and speaking fluency
- Develop and practice oral presentation skills through a Toastmaster-like format
Dates:
- May 20–June 30, 2025
Foundations of Business English
This full-time program combines general English classes and business communication workshops.
In addition to 20 hours/week of general English classes, participants will attend 16 hours of specialized classes focusing on:
- Communicating in cross-cultural business situations
- Writing effective emails
- Developing confident presentation skills
Dates:
- June 30–July 25
- July 7–August 15
- July 28–August 22
- August 5–22, 2025
Participating students receive a 16-hour Professional Development Certificate in addition to a Certificate of Completion for their general English classes.
