Course description
In the first part of this session, Karen Hoshal, who is a member of the Black pioneering Alexander family, will talk about the Black pioneers of the area and the province. The original Black settlers represented a wide spectrum of backgrounds and professions and contributed substantially to the settlement of this province. After the break, Ron Nicholson will discuss the 2nd Battalion, created during the WWI, the first and only all-Black battalion in Canadian military history.
