La Maison Française Residential Student Information

If you are attending La Maison Française on an Explore bursary then, yes. Explore bursary students are required to live on campus and follow the regulations governing the University Residence Services.

All other students are welcome to choose the residential option to enjoy a truely immersive experience.  

Students staying on campus should check in between 11:00 am and 5:00 pm on Sunday, June 28th. Our team will have a "Welcome" table set up outside the Residence Services Office which is located in the Craigdarroch office buidling, parking lot #5 off Sinclair Rd.

Front desk staff are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week should you arrive later or need any further assistance.

Extra nights in residence must be booked and paid directly through the Residence Services Office. Make a booking by phone at 250-721-8657 or by e-mail at Make sure to let them know that you are a participant of La Maison Française to ensure you receive the special rate.

All rooms are single occupancy. Men and women are housed on separate floors, and each floor has shared bathroom facilities.

Laundry machines are available in each building. They are operated with "smart cards" that can be purchased in the front office at a vending machine.

Although mail will not be delivered to your room, you can have letters and packages sent to the Residence Services office. A photo I.D. will be required for pick up.

Yes, you are entitled to a Residence Student Meal Plan. A declining balance card will be given to you upon arrival and will be pre-loaded with the appropriate amount. You will be allotted approximately $25.00 daily. You will receive a 5% discount on all meals at any University Food Services locations on campus. If you find you need more funds, you can always add more money online or in the Housing main office. For more information, contact 250-472-4777 |

Note: sheets, pillow cases and blankets will be supplied.

You should pack:

  • casual clothes for daily wear (sunny and warm days)
  • a sweater and wind/rainproof jacket (cool evenings)
  • a dressier outfit (final dinner-dance)
  • swimsuit and hiking/running shoes (daytrips)
  • alarm clock to be on time for class
  • towels and facecloths
  • school supplies (notebook, pens, etc.)

Optional items you may want to bring:

  • hair dryer
  • tablet/ laptop/ smartphone for your personal use (free Internet access in residences)
  • sleeping bag and a small flashlight (for optional camping trip)

Although $75 to $150 per week should cover your expenses for personal needs, souvenirs, snacks, optional activities, etc., you should be guided by your usual spending habits.
