Madrid - Segovia
This morning we depart Madrid to the Valley of the Fallen and El Escorial, a 16th century palace and monastery built by Felipe II. Continue to Segovia for two nights. Dinner this evening at La Postal, located just outside of Segovia with panoramic views of the city. (B/D)
Morning tour of Segovia including visits to the Roman Aqueduct, the Cathedral in the Plaza Mayor, and the Alcázar, fortress and home to various Spanish monarchs. Afternoon visit to la Granja Palace, summer residence of the Bourbon Kings. (B)
Segovia - Ávila – Salamanca
Depart Segovia for Salamanca, home of Spain’s oldest university. En route, we stop in Ávila for a guided tour including entrance to the walls and to the Cathedral. Upon arrival in Salamanca we will have a walking tour of the old part of the city, including the University and the Cathedral. Overnight in Salamanca. (B)
Salamanca – Santiago de Compostela
We depart this morning for Santiago de Compostela, stopping en route in Ribadavia for lunch, arriving in late afternoon. Two nights in Santiago de Compostela. (B/L)

Guided city tour today including entrance to the Cathedral of St. James. Rest of day at leisure to explore the UNESCO-listed old town on your own. (B)
Santiago de Compostela – Viano do Costelo – Porto
We leave this morning on our way to Porto, stopping en route in Viano do Castelo to walk through the historical centre and enjoy lunch in a local restaurant. Continue to Porto where we’ll stay for two nights. Rest of the day is free for you to wander. (B/L)

Porto – Aveiro – Coimbra
We depart Porto this morning, stopping in Aveiro, the “Venice of Portugal,” with its architectural masterpieces of Art Nouveau and colourful local boats. Upon arrival in Coimbra we check into our hotel for overnight. This afternoon we have a walking tour of Coimbra, including the University, one of the oldest in Europe, with a guided tour of the library and a visit to the Old Cathedral. (B)
Coimbra – Tomar – Fátima – Lisbon
We depart Coimbra this morning for Lisbon, stopping en route in Tomar and Fátima. In Tomar we visit the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Convent of Christ, originally built as a Templar stronghold in the 12th century. In Fátima, one of the most important Catholic pilgrimage sites, we will visit the Basílica di Fátima. We arrive in Lisbon in the early afternoon and check into our hotel for the next three nights. Rest of the day is free. (B)
This morning we'll take a walking tour through Lisbon's colourful downtown neighbourhoods, including a panoramic view of the city from São Jorge Castle. Rest of day free until our dinner and fado performance at Parreirinha de Alfama this evening. (B/D)
Lisbon – Sintra - Lisbon
Our first stop today is a visit to Belém, a waterfront neighbourhood that was the heart of Portuguese exploration in the 15th and 16th centuries; its fortified lighthouse is often used as a symbol of Lisbon. After lunch on our own, we’ll drive to the suburb of Sintra on the Atlantic coast, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, where we’ll visit the Castle of the Moors. Return to Lisbon in late afternoon. (B)
Lisbon – Seville
This morning we depart for Seville, taking the route heading south and stopping in Albufeira for lunch. We continue to Seville and check into our hotel for a 3-night stay. Rest of day at leisure. (B/L)
Today we have a half-day city tour including entrance to the Cathedral and Giralda. Rest of day at leisure until this evening, when we are treated to dinner and a flamenco show (tablao). (B/D)
Seville – Jerez – Seville
This morning we have an excursion to Jerez, where we have a tour of the world famous Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art followed by lunch. In the afternoon we enjoy sherry tasting at a famous bodega. We return to Seville and the rest of the day is at your leisure. (B/L)
Seville – Granada
Before departing Seville, we have a guided tour of the Alcázar, a royal palace of Moorish origin renowned as one of the most beautiful in Spain. We arrive in Granada in the early afternoon; rest of the day at leisure. Two nights in Granada. (B)
City tour today including Alhambra and Generalife Gardens. Farewell dinner with wine this evening. (B/D)
Granada – Madrid
Today, we depart Granada by coach on our way back to Madrid, stopping en route in Aranjuez for lunch. Remainder of day at leisure. (B/L)
Madrid – Frankfurt – Vancouver – Victoria
After breakfast we transfer to Barajas Airport to begin our return trip home. Arrive back in Victoria in the late evening. (B)
